Parent Visa belongs to a category of family visa. It includes both the Parent and the Contributory Parent visas. Parent visa options vary depending on your circumstances, including if you are applying in or outside of Australia.

Visa options available for Parents are:

  1. Parents Visa (subclass 103) – Applying offshore
  2. Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (subclass 173) – Applying offshore
  3. Contributory Parent Visa (subclass 143) – Applying Onshore/Offshore
  4. Aged Parent Visa (subclass 804) – Applying Onshore
  5. Contributory Aged Parent (temporary) Visa (subclass 884) – Applying Onshore
  6. Contributory Aged Parent Visa (subclass 884) – Applying Onshore

Key points to consider:

  • Must have an eligible sponsor.
  • Must meet the Balance of family test criteria.
  • Must meet health and character requirements.
  • Applications for a permanent Parent categories visa require an assurance of support.
  • Up to three people can agree to give you a joint assurance of support.
  • These visas may subject to capping.
